In May of 2024, PCD’s project managers lead groups of coworkers on field trips to their finished and in-construction projects. Project Managers got to show off their innovative designs and discuss challenges and lessons learned. The field trips provided an opportunity for designers, administrators, and survey crew to ask questions about problems and solutions and see the real-life products of their efforts. “I enjoyed our company field trip. I was able to visit the Brynhill neighborhoods in North Plains. I learned about the rain gardens, bat houses, and curb returns. Also the storm and sewer system and survey markers. It was nice to see what the product looks like and match it to the name and plats that I see all the time,” said Dawn Ewers, PCD’s Administration Coordinator. Visits also included West End District with its integrated stormwater and recreation installation and coordination with ODOT, Pacific Rail, and Trimet, Bethany Crossing and Ridgeline as large-scale, high-level planning successes, and Villebois Village as an example of creating gathering spaces and community-facing design. PCD hopes to continue this tradition of knowledge sharing in the upcoming year and continues to celebrate the efforts of the entire team.
