Planning reigned supreme at PCD in the first quarters of 2024. This stage of development involves collaboration across all of our in-house disciplines and sub-consultants, and PCD successfully spearheaded multiple projects from Due Diligence through Planning Approval.
Following the water moratorium lift in the City of Banks, PCD began work on a new development, one of the first in the City of Banks since Arbor Village in 2004. Our team worked closely with David Weekley Homes, City staff, and the surrounding community to design and get approval for the Sunset View Development. Working in a smaller, more rural community required a different perspective than our urban projects, and we took a proactive approach to engage with the surrounding neighborhoods, integrating their values in the design. Peyton James, Associate Planner on the project, led an engagement exercise at the nearby Banks High School to introduce the youth to the proposed concept and ask for feedback, building consensus for approval of the development. The Kingston Terrace Town Center development in the newly annexed area of King City has been a main focus of our team over the past year. The development follows a major code overhaul, supported by a consultant and the PCD Planning team. The new code creates a new Land Use District, and provides solutions to problems such as a lack of housing and housing diversity, transportation connections, and a town center that includes space for new municipal buildings.
Building off the success of Kingston Terrace Town Center, the New Home Company and PCD launched into designing the newest addition to Hillsboro’s Urban Growth Boundary, Witch Hazel Village South. The newly approved development will provide 922 dwelling units in a rapidly expanding area of Hillsboro. With the development, we are excited to design an integrated stormwater facility within open space areas and neighborhood parks. This combination allows us to retain large, natural open space areas interwoven through an attractive neighborhood with a variety of recreational options
